Spa Holidays
Araamu spa is built
on the three resorts, Paradise Island, Sun Island, and Royal
Island, Maldives. Araamu in the local language means ‘soothing’,
a blissful state of total relaxation. The spa specialises
in classic treatments from all over Asia using indigenous
and exotic herbs, oils and flower extracts, bringing complete
nourishment to body and soul.
Each of three spas is a separate and complete environment,
distinct from the rest of the resort. Each pavilion is built
from natural materials like thatch, bamboo, timber and stone,
replete with frangipani and jasmine trees amidst pools,
fountains and cascading water and invites you to savour
luxury at its best. One of the most specious treatment rooms
are pavilion Spa Suites, which set new standards of luxury
in the Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room…
Treatments are designed to cater to individual needs.
Araamu spa provides holiday makers that extra bit of pampering
characteristic of Ayurveda. Each spa and its menu have separate
sections for Ayurvedic treatments. This ancient source of
holistic knowledge from the Indian subcontinent is practised
here by professional Indian practitioners.
A series of medication over a long period is recommended
to get the full value from Ayurveda, but Araamu offers single
treatments as an introduction and for specific ailments.
A popular single choice is the fat burn therapy. The massages,
facials and body wraps are also extremely popular.
Signature therapies at Araamu include finikela, an old
Maldivian favourite for its soothing qualities and its overall
effect on beauty, and Theyo Dhemun, a full-body massage
that combines elements of the Maldivian tradition with strokes
and techniques from other Asian traditions to deliver a
unique and deeply relaxing experience.
A very popular romantic packages is ‘Loabi Loabi’,
a combination of appropriate treatments for couples to enjoy
a shared pampering experience. Yet another therapy, ‘Veli
Modun’, takes place on the beach and is derived from
the treatment that fishermen would receive to ease their
aching muscles. The wide-open setting on the shore of the
beach greatly increases the general sense of well –
being derived from this treatment.
